A wonderful surprise awaits all visitors to the exhibition Da Picasso a Van Gogh in the final, expansive section of the exhibition at the Museo Santa Caterina in Treviso, the area dedicated to Impressionist masterpieces.
A fully equipped cinema room has been created, hosting a continuous screening of a film written and directed specifically for this occasion by Marco Goldin, inspired by the Van Gogh masterpiece on display, Auvers, Wheatfield with Reaper, painted during the final days of the artist’s life.
The film, titled Gli ultimi giorni di Van Gogh, is based entirely on the book of the same name published by Marco Goldin in 2022 for Solferino, which also inspired a successful theater tour throughout Italy. Using a creative narrative device, Goldin lends his own words to Van Gogh, imagining that the painter had kept a diary, which in reality he never did.
The film tells the story of the last weeks of the Dutch painter’s life in just half an hour, featuring animation and editing by Alessandro Trettenero and music by Remo Anzovino.
